About The Role:

As a Civil Engineering Project Manager leading multi-disciplined project teams, you will utilize your technical expertise and leadership skills, foster team collaboration, build strong client relationships, and create a positive project environment. Alongside project delivery, you'll contribute to business growth by developing proposals and supporting strategic client development efforts.

  • Leadership & Coordination: Direct multi-disciplined teams on design and permitting for natural gas distribution and transmission projects, ensuring effective collaboration and communication. Coordinate environmental, natural, and cultural resource assessments for projects in new and existing utility easements.
  • Project Execution: Manage all aspects of project delivery, including safety compliance, risk assessment, technical quality, schedule, and budget. Conduct site visits and engage with clients to ensure expectations are exceeded.
  • Permitting and Design: Oversee the preparation of environmental and non-environmental permitting processes, including Erosion & Sedimentation Control Plans, Floodplain Development Permits, site grading, DOT Encroachments, Utility Encroachments, while performing design for natural gas distribution and transmission pipelines and facilities.
  • Business Development: Partner with leadership to identify new opportunities, prepare competitive proposals, and expand the company's client network.

About You:

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related technical field, preferred
  • You have a minimum of 6 years of experience in civil engineering in the energy market, with experience in the onshore oil and gas industry required
  • You have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Project Manager
  • You have a proven track record of managing multidisciplinary teams with strong communication, organizational, and computer skills
  • You are committed to excellence in client development, proposal writing, and teamwork

Natural Gas Technician I - at City of Shelby, NC

Performs skilled trades work assisting in the repair, replacement, and installation of gas utility lines and appurtenances, investigating gas leaks and conducting inspections, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the close supervision of the Natural Gas Supervisor.

Essential Functions
  • Assists in the repair, replacement, and installation of gas utility lines, meters, outlets, regulators, and related facilities; locates gas mains and services.
  • Fits taps and fuses pipe; assists with pipe welding; repairs damaged coatings.
  • Responds to and assists with investigating and repairing broken gas lines and gas leaks; assists in conducting leak surveys, cathodic protection surveys, casing surveys, and patrolling pipelines. 
  • Assists with rectifier readings; assists with checking pressures and downloads pressure recordings; checks interruptible consumption when required.
  • Records atmospheric corrosion data; assists with testing odorant levels on gas system for federal regulations; assists with general corrosion and atmospheric corrosion control.
  • Assists with valve inspection and repair.
  • Assists with inspecting hazardous pipe crossings.
  • Connects and disconnects gas service to meter and regulator sets; ensures meters are free of corrosion and properly set; lights pilots.
  • Takes pipe to soil potential readings.
  • Operates bush hog, backhoe, dump truck, trencher, tamp and related automotive and construction equipment as qualified.
  • Helps maintain rights-of-way, regulator, and farm tap stations; mows grass, weed eats, trims trees, and picks up debris.
  • Assists with abandonment of services and mains.
  • Assists with installation of anode beds and test stations.
  • Digs trenches by hand or machine; digs out, cleans, primes, and coats service risers.
  • Cleans, primes, and paints gas meters to meet federal atmospheric corrosion regulations.
  • Stocks truck with materials and supplies; loads and unloads trucks.
  • Makes minor repairs to and maintains tools and equipment.
  • May be required to work outside normal working hours in stand-by, on-call, or emergency situations.

 

Typical Qualifications

High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Successfully complete Operator Qualification requirements as defined for Natural Gas Technician I within two years of hire. Complete excavation, trenching and shoring, and flagging training within one year of hire.
Valid commercial driver's license in the State of North Carolina, or the ability to obtain within two years of hire.

Some knowledge of the maintenance, repair, and manual tasks related to gas utility work; some knowledge of the use of common hand and specialized power tools required in the work; some knowledge of the safe and proper use and operation of equipment required in the work; skill in the use of equipment to which assigned; ability to understand oral and written instructions; mechanical aptitude; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, contractors, customers, and the general public.
