Damage Prevention Roundtable – Natural Gas Utilities
This roundtable is a continuation of the previous damage prevention discussion from the March Operators meeting. The purpose of this expanded session is to provide a collaborative forum for operators to discuss current damage prevention practices, lessons learned, and areas where additional improvements can be made beyond minimum regulatory requirements.
Participants will have the opportunity to share examples of how their organizations are documenting damages, tracking excavation-related incidents, and implementing processes to improve data quality and reporting consistency. The discussion will also include how operators are going beyond standard public awareness requirements to reduce third-party damages, including enhanced outreach efforts, contractor engagement, use of technology, and internal procedures that support stronger compliance and safer operations.
This roundtable is intended to encourage open discussion, practical idea sharing, and alignment on best practices that support safer pipeline systems and stronger damage prevention programs across natural gas utilities.
